In India, Grant medical college is one of the best medical institutes. It is located in the city of Mumbai, Maharashtra and the oldest college teaching western medicine in the country. As per India Today survey, 2007 it was in the top ten medical colleges in the country. On 30th march 1843, the foundation stone was laid. However, it actually started functioning in October 1845. The college was named after the Governor of Bombay of that time Sir Robert Grant who also played a vital role for the establishment of the medical college.

Since its appearance, the college has always offered better services to its students. Grant Medical College, Mumbai have a wide campus nearly 44 acres of land where 46 buildings are standing tall and at the same time increasing the beauty of the college. The medical college comes under Sir Jamsetjee Jeejebhoy Group of Hospitals. In the city some other hospital also comes under the same group namely St George Hospital,  Goculdas Tejpal Hospital, J. J. Hospital, Cama and Albess Hospital.

Undergraduate who wish to study medicine needs to follow some criteria. Candidate must pass higher secondary (10+2) from ICSE, CBSE or State Board with Science Subjects (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology). If the candidate posses such qualification then he can apply for admission in the college. Admissions are done purely on merit basis with reservation for some backward caste and community.

About 130 seats are available for PG programme out of which 25% admissions are done through All India Entrance Exam, 25% seats are for Medical Officer’s and remaining are filled though state level medical entrance exam. Grant medical college has great library, separate girls and boy’s hostel, well-equipped laboratory, games and sports facilities.
