Topiwala National Medical College
Topiwala National Medical College appeared in the year 1921 and is one of the premier medical colleges located in the city Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. The college is associated with Bai Yamunabai Laxman charitable hospital. About, 1800 beds are available for the patients who came here in the anticipation of better treatment.
Dean Dr. Ravi currently heads the college. Municipal Corporation of greater Mumbai runs the college and the associate charitable hospital. The corporation runs two other medical colleges in Mumbai namely Lokmanya Tilak Medical College & Sion Hospital and Seth GS Medical College & KEM Hospital. State government of Maharashtra runs Grant Medical College & Sir JJ group of Hospitals. Taking admission into any of these four medical colleges is a dream of every aspirant. These premier colleges are highly competent and every year thousands of students apply to get a seat under any of these medical colleges. According to students, ranking and preference Seth GS medical college ranks 1st in Maharashtra with Lokmanya Tilak Medical College and Topiwala National Medical College are on second spot and Grant Medical College is in 4th place.
Last year in the month of April Intercollegiate Anatomy quiz competition held and the students from Topiwala National Medical College secured Gold medal, followed by GS Medical College and Lokmanya Tilak Medical College respectively. The quiz competition took place at GS Medical College based on short clinical cases and Anatomy.
Topiwala National Medical College offers graduate courses in physiotherapy, speech therapy as well as PG courses in multiple disciplines of medicine. Topiwala National Medical College also has a college for dental studies named as NHDC (Nair Hospital Dental College). In complete Maharashtra, Mumbai has the most number of institutes for dental education. Topiwala National Medical College and Nair Hospital Dental College is very close to each other.
