Bangalore Medical College (BMC) 
State government of Karnataka runs Bangalore Medical College. It is located near city market on Shri Krishnarajendra Road. In the state, this is only Government medical college out of other six medical colleges. Admission to this college is quite a challenge for aspirants. Aspirants needs to score relatively high marks in state or national level medical entrance tests to reserve a seat in Bangalore Medical College. This college is continuously in the list of top ten medical colleges since past many years. In the year 2006, it was in the eighth position.
Dr. Shivram and Dr. Mekhri established the college in the year 1955 and at that time, it was located in fort police station ground. Gradually, higher authority of the college has handed over the responsibility of running the college to the government. Since beginning, the college has provided medical education to some of the prominent doctors of India. In the year 2005-2006, college has celebrated its golden jubilee with some renovation in the college and by inaugurating a new conference hall and art digital library.
Some great hospital of the town is associated with Bangalore Medical College namely Bowring & Lady Curzon Hospital, Minto Hospital, Vanivilas Women & Children Hospital and Victoria Hospital. Apart from providing treatment to the people, the college has some community health centers in places like K. G. Halli, Hessarghatta, Sundekoppa and Pavgada. Combining all the hospitals it has more than 3000 beds for patients. It has UG courses and PG courses in almost all specialties of medicine. 

Department of Technical and Medical Education, Government of Karnataka conducts CET (Common Entrance Test) for admission in first year of B.D.S, B.Arch, B.Tech and MBBS. Student with highest mark has huge possibility of getting admission in Bangalore Medical College. Candidates willing to join medical courses must appear for CET conducted by the state government of Karnataka for both Payment Seats and Free Seats.
