One of the most eminent medical colleges of the country is Armed Forces Medical College, Pune. It is the first instance in the entire subcontinent where a medical college was set up by Armed forced of the country. The college has combined its medical course with training to the health care needs of Armed forces.  Armed Forces Medical College is consistently among the top medical college in the country. NAAC accredited Armed Forces Medical College with A grade, the college scored 3.51 out of four which is the highest ever points given to any college in India.

AFMC was established in the year 1948. The institute is responsible to fulfill the requirement of doctors and specialists to Armed Forces by providing them in house training. Therefore, AFMC is the backbone of Armed forces as they provide high quality medical professional. The college provides training to medical UG and PG students, dental UG and PG students, paramedical staff and nursing UG and PG students.  Taking care of patients admitted in the hospital is an integral part of training and the hospital use maximum of expertise available at Armed Forces Medical College.
