R.G. Kar Medical College, Kolkata
It was last half of 19th Centaury and spirit of the 'Nationalism' fly high in people of India. The medical union was evenly charged with fervor of the 'Nationalism'. In the year 1886, Dr.Radha Gobinda Kar had returned from the U.K. and organized the meeting on 18th of October, to establish Medical School take apart from official institutions under British rulers. In same year, the Calcutta Medical School arrived into existence. Later on, it merged with one more nationalist Organization College for Physicians & Surgeons of the Bengal. The Belgachia Medical College established in the year 1916. It was opened by Lord Carmichael, Governor of Bengal having 48 students in its first batch. After death of Dr.Radh Govinda Kar, this College was given his name. Ex-student’s Association was made in the year 1932 and first Re-union was established under administration from Prafulla Bhusan Basu.
